Recorded live at the 7th Street Entry, Minneapolis, on January 30, 1981
This is the first full-length Mats show ever recorded, and judging by Paul's comments it was
apparently done for a radio broadcast. The performance showcases the more professional, less
sloppy sound typical of the band in their early days. It is loud, fast, and relatively
tight, without very much of the drunken fucking around that later became their trademark.
Even the cover songs are not goofy, they are serious rockin' performances which manage to make
Hank Williams, Nick Lowe, and Slade tunes sound like Westerberg originals. The setlist is a
mix of tracks from the first album, a few covers, and several great Westerberg compositions which
were never recorded in the studio, including the hilarious "I Made a Mistake."
