Two contrasting shows from 1984. In a year filled with sloppy, drunken shows, the legendary December 9 CBGB's show was perhaps the sloppiest and the drunkest of them all. This show features almost no Replacements songs, and instead is a broad survey of popular music in the latter half of the 20th Century. The highlight of the show is tracks 23 through 28 of Disc One, in which Paul sings the lyrics of Replacements songs to the tunes of various classic rock hits. There is no better example of the collective genius of the Mats. The second show, meanwhile, is a more-or-less serious, professionally done show from earlier in the year.

SOUND QUALITY: The CBGB portion of this set comes from an audience tape, and ranks about a 6 in sound quality. The Pop Shop portion comes from a PA feed and ranks a 7 (although it should be noted that because it is the PA feed, Paul's voice and the drums are too loud relative to the other instruments in the mix).
